Australia march ahead in practice game

Australia, on Day 2 of their practice game in Dubai, showcased skill and determination to carve out 207 runs for the loss of two wickets after @L0$on Sunday (September 30).

Pakistan A, who resumed the day on 247 for 6, were shot out for 278 as Nathan Lyon returned to be the wrecker-in-chief and added three more wickets to his tally of five scalps from the opening day.

An effort of 8-103 from the offspinner was backed up immediately by the openers, Usman Khawaja (36) and Aaron Finch (54), who added 82 for the first wicket before the latter fell to Iftikhar Ahmed. The cliche 'one gets two' saw Khawaja departing soon after only for the Marsh brothers to carry the baton forward. Shaun was unbeaten on 54, while Mitchell was batting on 53.

Pakistan A's overnight batsman Abid Ali missed out on his ton as he added only two runs to his overnight score of 83 to open the floodgates. Australia have had a good outing barring the lesser dosage of spin that they have had to deal with. Pakistan A only had Iftikhar as the only primary spinner playing in their team in spin-friendly conditions in Dubai and Asad Shafiq had to dole out 15 rudimentary overs. Matt Renshaw was hit on the helmet while fielding at short leg. He was subsequently substituted by Marnus Labuschagne for the rest of the match.
