Konstas ton headlines Australia A’s good start against India A

Opener Sam Konstas' century headlined the proceedings on Day 1 of the first Unofficial Test between India A and Australia A in Lucknow. After a delayed start due to a wet outfield, the visitors batted solidly and posted 337/5 at Stumps.

No play was possible in the first session of play due to a wet outfield. Play did, however, begin duly following Lunch with Australia A opting to bat after winning the toss. Openers Konstas and Campbell Kellaway negotiated the entirety of the 35-over session without losing a wicket. Konstas, one of Australia's incumbent openers, impressed with a century while his partner remained unbeaten on 88.

Kellaway couldn't add to his score after Tea though as he fell to Gurnoor Brar off the very first delivery he faced after the break. His departure not only broke a 198-run stand but it also triggered a mini-collapse with Australia A losing all of Nathan McSweeney, Oliver Peake and Konstas for just 26 runs.

Cooper Connolly and Liam Scott managed to then stabilise things for their side with a 109-run stand. Their partnership came to an end when Connolly was dismissed late in the day for 70.

India's spinners Harsh Dubey and Tanush Kotian shouldered much of the bowling workload with the duo bowling 40 of the 73 overs on the first day. Dubey was India A's most successful bowler – picking up 3/88.

@B0$ Australia A 337/5 in 73 overs (Sam Konstas 109, Campbell Kellaway 88; Harsh Dubey 3-88) vs India A.
