Lahore to host Women’s World Cup Qualifier from April 9

Two cricket venues in Lahore – the Gaddafi Stadium and the Lahore City Cricket Association (LCCA) will host matches of the Women's World Cup Qualifier games starting April 9. The 10-day, 15-match league tournament will decide the two qualifiers for the ICC Women's ODI World Cup 2025 to be held in India in October-November.

Among the six teams set to compete for the two available berths are hosts Pakistan. They will be joined by West Indies, Bangladesh, Ireland along with the two Associate Members, Scotland and Thailand, who were the next two best sides in the ICC Rankings as of cut-off date – October 28, 2024. Pakistan will open the tournament against Ireland on a double-header opening day with West Indies and Scotland facing off in the other fixture. The top-two teams in the standings will progress to the World Cup.

Australia, England, New Zealand, South Africa and Sri Lanka apart from hosts India, have already qualified for the World Cup by virtue of finishing in the top six of the 10-team ICC Women's Championship (2022-25).
