Shan Masood pens all format deal with Leicestershire

Pakistan Test skipper Shan Masood has signed an all format deal with Leicestershire for the 2025 season. Masood will join the squad in mid-May following the conclusion of the Pakistan Super League and will be available to play Leicestershire's T20 Blast opening fixture on May 31.

Leicestershire will be Masood's third club in the county circuit. He had a terrific season with Derbyshire in 2022 and played for Yorkshire in the last two years and was skipper when they got promoted to Division One last year. The left-hander will be Leicestershire's third overseas player for the season joining new skipper Peter Handscomb and Netherlands international Logan van Beek.

While he hasn't played a T20I for Pakistan post the 2022 T20 World Cup final and an ODI since May 2023, Masood led his team to a memorable Test series win at home against England recently. Overall, he has played 70 games for Pakistan across formats and boasts of a spectacular first-class record scoring almost 12000 runs.

"I am really excited to have the chance to play all three formats for Leicestershire," Masood said. "I have always admired the Club and have had great conversations with a lot of the team during the last three seasons. I love playing at Uptonsteel County Ground. The fans get behind the team in strong numbers and the games I have been a part of have always been a great spectacle.

"The Club has been very competitive in all formats and produced some fantastic young players over the last few years. It is an exciting time to join the Foxes."
